Useful Nova Scotia Plants project

A mobile application for identification of edible plants

Useful Plants of Nova Scotia provides a listing of edible and non-edible but otherwise useful plants in the province. Users are currently able to browse by alphabetical listing, filter by tags, search by name, and then view details and photographs of plants. There is also a glossary of terms used.

What We Did

Because we wanted just such an app to exist in Nova Scotia, for fun we conceived of a cross-platform mobile application for identification of edible and useful plants in the province of Nova Scotia. Having the skills to develop the application, but lacking the content, we partnered with Marian Munro, botany curator of the Nova Scotia Museum to bring the app to fruition, so to speak.
